Why you will never be enough!

Oh how near are genius and madness!” / Denis Diderot

Most of us have heard it, probably fewer understand it.

I would state the same with:

“Oh how near are inspiration and comparison” (is it perhaps bold also to state that one makes the genius while the latter makes the madness).

And oh, such madness that is going on these days!
But also, we have never been as inspired by each other as we are today.
Still, let me address the madness in this post and get back to you about all the inspiration that exists to lift us up to new levels.

Because you will never be enough!
Harsh words?
Yes! Of course! Who doesn’t want to be raised by the comfort of words like “you are perfect just the way you are”.

Still, the competition is on! More fierce than ever! You see, to compare is to compete and vice versa.
Where it once used to be to compare to a few people in school or the cover of a magazine, today the courtyard is the entire world! Within the reach of a simple swipe.
Beauty, strength, endurance, happiness, and so on. Everything neatly packed and delivered in form of numbers.
The higher the number, the happier the life. (” “)

What then is the difference between comparing and inspiring?
I am glad I asked! 😝
While they both put you in relation towards another, one will most probably make you look over your shoulder again and again and again until your focus lies more outside the box of self-interest.
While the other will be satisfied by glancing over the shoulder, enjoying a realization, and shifting focus back to one’s own path.

To compare many times draws energy while to be inspired gives energy.

The school doesn’t really prepare us for what’s out there when it comes to stuff like this.
It used to be, preparing for a job, finding a job, work and being happy. And this was all that mattered.
The school system is an ancient relic and way behind when it comes to taking responsibility for what kind of people, humans, brains, and souls are being sent out there.
Some would state that it is not in the interest of the school! I on the other hand would state the opposite – The school is our first meeting with social connection. This is what at least 40% of what the school should be all about – strengthening kids mentally so that they can deal with the world emotionally.
In this case to realize that they will never be enough! At least not by comparing to billions of people, or even one. Because once we realize this, we also realize that we always were just perfect enough to start with.
We can start to realize that each and every one of us is consist of such complexity that no one can ever compete with the unique set of circles that creates You!

This is my side of the story, some of my thoughts about the big puzzle we call life.
What are yours?

  1. The next time I read a blog, Hopefully it doesn’t disappoint me just as much as this particular one. I mean, Yes, it was my choice to read, nonetheless I actually thought you’d have something useful to talk about. All I hear is a bunch of whining about something that you could possibly fix if you weren’t too busy looking for attention.

    1. Sorry for late reply. Theis is just me sharing some thoughts and then and I move on. I am not sorry that you found it waste of time, rather I find it pleasing that you took from your precious time to even respond =)
